Sugar Management (Madhumeha) is classified under Prameha in Ayurveda — a Kapha and Vata metabolic disorder. Treatment focuses on burning Ama, correcting impaired metabolism, purifying the channels, and restoring the body's natural ability to regulate blood sugar.

Our Approach: At Herbal Hills Ayurvedic Wellness Center, our doctors begin every consultation with Nadi Parikshan (pulse diagnosis). This identifies the dominant dosha imbalance, the state of the Medovaha and Mutravaha Srotas, and the extent of Ama — enabling a fully personalised treatment plan for your metabolic health.

Understanding Sugar Management in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, impaired sugar metabolism is described as Madhumeha — one of the 20 types of Prameha (urinary disorders). It is primarily caused by the aggravation of Kapha dosha and Vata vitiation, leading to impaired metabolism (Agni Dushti), accumulation of Ama in the Medovaha Srotas (fat channels), and excessive sweetness in the urine.

Ayurvedic treatment focuses on eliminating Kapha and Ama through purification therapies, correcting metabolic fire (Agni), reducing excess Meda Dhatu (fat tissue), and strengthening the Pancreas function — supporting the body to naturally regulate blood sugar levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ayurveda addresses sugar imbalance at its root — impaired Agni, Kapha and Ama accumulation in the metabolic channels, and Vata disturbance. With the right combination of Panchakarma therapies, herbal medicines, diet, and lifestyle changes, many patients experience improved blood sugar regulation, reduced medication dependency, and better overall metabolic health. Results vary by type and stage of the condition.
Nadi Parikshan is Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis — our doctor reads the pulse to identify your Prakriti, the dominant dosha imbalance, and the state of your Medovaha Srotas and metabolic Agni. This ensures your treatment plan is completely personalised — addressing the specific cause of your sugar imbalance rather than following a generic approach.
Yes — do not stop or reduce any prescribed sugar management medications without your physician's guidance. Our Ayurvedic doctors are experienced in working alongside conventional sugar management and will design a complementary plan that is safe with your current medications. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is recommended throughout treatment.
Vaman is most suitable for Type 2 sugar management patients with dominant Kapha constitution, obesity, and strong digestion. It is performed under strict medical supervision following preparatory procedures. Suitability is assessed by our Ayurvedic doctor based on your body strength, current health, sugar levels, and dosha balance before it is recommended. It is not advised during active complications.
