Acidity Treatment in Ayurveda

Hyperacidity (Amlapitta) is a Pitta disorder at its core. Ayurveda treats acidity not just by managing symptoms but by addressing the root imbalance — restoring digestive fire and clearing accumulated Ama.

Understanding Acidity in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, acidity is known as Amlapitta — a condition caused by the aggravation of Pitta dosha in the stomach and digestive tract. Pitta, the fire element, when vitiated produces excess acid, leading to burning sensations, indigestion, and discomfort.

Unlike conventional approaches that only suppress acid, Ayurveda aims to pacify the aggravated Pitta, strengthen digestive fire (Agni), and eliminate the toxic buildup (Ama) that disrupts healthy digestion — providing long-term relief.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ayurveda addresses acidity at its root — the aggravation of Pitta and weakening of Agni — rather than just suppressing symptoms. With the right combination of Panchakarma therapies, herbal medicines, and dietary and lifestyle changes guided by our doctors, most patients experience significant and lasting relief.
Nadi Parikshan is Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis — a precise technique where our doctor reads the pulse at the wrist to assess your Prakriti (body constitution), current dosha imbalances, and the state of your digestive fire. This ensures every therapy and herbal prescription is tailored to you individually.
Antacids neutralise stomach acid temporarily but do not address the underlying imbalance. Ayurvedic treatment corrects Pitta dosha, strengthens Agni, eliminates Ama, and rebalances the entire digestive system for sustainable, long-term relief.
No. Please do not stop any ongoing medications without consulting your physician. Our Ayurvedic doctors are experienced in working alongside conventional treatments and will design a plan that is safe and compatible with your current medications.
