Siravedh is a classical Ayurvedic procedure and one of the methods of Raktamokshana — the practice of letting out impure blood from an affected part of the body. A sterile needle is used to puncture the vein, allowing a small, controlled amount of impure blood to flow out under supervision, helping to ease inflammation and restore balance.
How Siravedh Works in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda, blood disorders and elevated Pitta dosha can lead to inflammation, pressure, skin issues, and pain. Siravedh works by removing impure blood from the body, which may help lower toxin levels, improve circulation, and restore the body's natural balance.
The Siravedh Procedure
The patient is informed about the entire process and gives consent before the procedure begins. Our Ayurvedic doctor assesses the patient's strength, condition, and overall health to confirm suitability for the therapy.
The patient may be seated, standing, or lying down, depending on the area being treated and what is most comfortable and appropriate for the procedure.
A band of soft cloth is tied above the area from where the blood is to be let out, helping to localize the vein and prepare it for the procedure.
Using a sterile needle, the appropriate vein is carefully punctured, allowing impure blood to flow out in a small, controlled amount into a collection vessel.
The patient is observed throughout the entire process. Afterward, proper wound care and post-procedure advice are given to ensure comfort and safety.
